What does it mean to be a Partner?
A Bluegrass Bike Partner is any individual, business or organization that wants to be identified as a location where cyclists know they are welcomed.
What does a Partner have to do?
Partners just need to be welcoming and offer at least one of the following:
- use of telephone
- use of restroom facilities
- basic bicycle tool kit*
- tire pump*
- bicycle tubes and/or patches*
- bicycle parking
*The bike tool kits, pumps, and tubes/patches will be provided to the Partners by the project.
How are Partners identified?
Partners will be identified by either a sticker or sign placed in a window or on their property. Stickers or signs are provided by the Bluegrass Bike Partner project.
How are Partners advertised?
Partners will be listed on Bluegrass Bike Partner Facebook page and will be linked from the Bluegrass Cycling Club website. Partners will also be mentioned in planned press releases and future advertising opportunities.
How do I become a Partner?
History of the Program
On Wednesday, August 31st at 5:30pm, cyclists and neighbors gathered for the unveiling of unique new bike racks made from recycled frames, created and designed by Creative re-CYCLING (Lexington). The event was covered by the Woodford Sun and the Lexington Herald-Leader.

The Bluegrass Cycling Club approved a Midway Renaissance grant request for $2,000 to fund a pilot program known as Bluegrass Bike Partners. In addition to the grant from BCC the Midway Christian Church Board of Trustees agreed to contribute an additional $500 to this initiative.
The program is a collaborative effort of the Midway Renaissance Greenspace Committee and the Midway Christian Church Green Chalice Program.
Midway Christian Church generously hosted the Midway rides this season, opening their restrooms and facilities for BCC use each Wednesday before the club's weekly ride.
Bike racks have been placed at the Christian Church and will soon be installed at
Darlin’ Jean’s Apple Cobbler Cafe in Downtown Midway. |
